Placement test results

After you complete your Accuplacer placement assessments, you will receive a letter that includes your assessment scores and provides a list of course placements in mathematics, reading, and writing. Before enrolling in any of the courses listed in the letter, it is advisable that you discuss your course placements with your academic advisor to determine how the placements align with your program requirements.

Mathematics placement results

Your mathematics placement results may require you to do preparatory work before taking courses. These results are:

Students receive this placement when their Accuplacer Arithmetic test score is below 39 or when their Next Generation Accuplacer Arithmetic test score is below 240.

Students can choose to complete an Accuplacer Test Preparation course at the Hubbs Center and retake the Accuplacer math assessment with the objective of placing into MATH 098 or MATH 110. The Hubbs Center is a state-funded adult learning center not affiliated with Âé¶¹Ö±²¥. The phone number for the Hubbs Center is 651-290-4822.

  • Students receive this placement when their Accuplacer Arithmetic test score is below 39 or when their Next Generation Accuplacer Arithmetic test score is below 240.
  • Students can choose to complete the . Students successfully completing this online course will receive an override allowing them to register for MATH 098 Introduction to Mathematical Thinking.
  • Students receive this placement when their Accuplacer Arithmetic test score is below 50 or when their Next Generation Accuplacer Arithmetic test score is below 250.
  • Students can choose to complete the . Students successfully completing this online course will receive an override allowing them to register for MATH 110 Math for Liberal Arts.

  • Appropriate developmental courses: If you place at this level and you have not completed any college-level reading and composition courses, you need to take courses at nearby community or technical colleges first.

Your reading placement results may also allow you to select any course that is appropriate for your college program.

Writing placement results

Your writing placement results may require you to do preparatory work before taking courses. These results are:

  1. Remedial courses completed at other institutions before coming to Âé¶¹Ö±²¥

    All remedial courses are listed at the end of each individual’s DARS (Degree Audit Reports). This transcript evaluation process identifies those courses that meet the prerequisite requirements for certain college level courses, such as college algebra at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥. Students will be allowed to enroll into those courses once those prerequisites have been met.

    If you transferred in with remedial courses from other institutions, check with your academic advisor to go through the prerequisite checking procedure before enrollment.

If you completed the Accuplacer placement tests at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥, placed into some remedial courses, and you would like to take those courses at another MN State campus, contact the institution to be placed into the required course. These scores will be shared between all institutions in the system. Your academic advisor is also there to guide you through the process.
