Locker Room Talk: Women in Private Spaces, a groundbreaking anthology co-edited by Michelle Filkins, a member of the library faculty at ΒιΆΉΦ±²₯, was named the winner of the Anthology category at the . Co-editor of the volume is Margret Aldrich who is director of communications at the nonprofit Little Free Library organization. The honor was announced during the annual awards ceremony held at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts on April 23.
Locker Room Talk brings together a diverse collection of voices exploring the ways that women engage with family, friends, and even strangers. These conversations demonstrate how women, in both ordinary and extraordinary ways, take care of one another and their communities.
βThis award provides an opportunity to amplify the importance of recognizing and celebrating the care that happens in women-centered spaces,β said Filkins.
Locker Room Talk was published by Minneapolis-based Spout Press, co-founded by Filkins in 1989, and recognized for its commitment to supporting new or underappreciated voices.
The Minnesota Book Awards, presented by The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library, honor the best in the Minnesotaβs literature in several categories. Winners are selected by a panel of writers, educators, librarians, and booksellers from across the state.
