If you are a current high school student or have completed fewer than 16 college credits, you will apply as a first-year student.

There are three ways to attend Metro State as a first-year student:

• Automatic Admission - A cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 or a GED transcript with test scores of 165 on each subject (older GED scores may vary) will result in automatic admission to the University. A higher GPA may be required for admission into some programs.
• Conditional Admission - If you have a cumulative high school GPA of between 2.5 and 2.75 or a GED transcript with test scores of 145-164 on each subject (older GED scores may vary), you will be conditionally admitted to the university. You will receive additional academic support to ensure your success while meeting a few requirements prior to and during your first semester.
• Community College Transfer Pathway - If you have a cumulative high school GPA of below 2.5, you will need to attend a community college before re-applying as a transfer student. We have transfer pathways at community colleges within the Minnesota State system that will allow a seamless transfer of your credits to Â鶹ֱ²¥.

Your official transcript from your high school and all post-secondary institutions where you were previously enrolled (even if no credit or clock hours were earned) and advanced placement (AP) official test scores must be sent to Â鶹ֱ²¥ to complete your application. We recommend requesting electronic copies whenever possible. Transcripts often take 7–10 business days to be received from when they are requested and must be received by the deadline so we encourage you to apply early.

Priority application deadlines:

• Fall — June 1
• Spring — October 1

Final application deadline:

• Summer — April 22

You are encouraged to complete your application early in order to allow for receipt of an official transfer credit evaluation (DARS), the best selection of courses, and financial aid packaging, as well as time to plan for and any required assessments.

Notification of a positive admission decision will list any conditions that you must satisfy before you can register for coursework. These conditions may include academic assessments and completion of orientation.
