ANES 634 Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology for Nurse Anesthesia I

This course will combine anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology into a 3 part series, taking place over the first 3 semesters of the program. They will cover all body systems across the lifespan, with emphasis on anesthetic considerations.

Prerequisite: Admission into the Nurse Anesthesia DNP program.

General

  • Verbalize accurate anatomical terminology for effective interprofessional communication.
  • Assess regional anatomical structures of the human body for clinical correlation.
  • Analyze normal and abnormal anatomical variation¿s effect on function for safe perioperative care.
  • Assess human body systems¿ effects on homeostasis.
  • Analyze failure of normal physiologic functions for clinical correlation across the lifespan.
  • Differentiate different systems¿ pathophysiologic states in relationship to etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, management, and clinical data.
  • Recommend strategies for health promotion advocacy.
