Biography

Professor Sarah Dimick Gray has been at Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ since 2011. Prior to Metro State, she was a research chemist at Scynexis in the Research Triangle Park, NC, a research associate at the Center for Drug Design, UMN-TC, and a part-time faculty member at St. Catherine University. Dimick Gray is an organic chemist by training and practice with emphasis on drug design.

At Metro State, Dimick Gray teaches organic chemistry 1 and 2 as well as medicinal chemistry and advanced organic chemistry. She has assisted in growing the department to include chemistry and biochemistry majors as well as a pre-health advising committee. Students conducting research with Dimick Gray are synthesizing chalcone and chromanone derivatives to evaluate for antimicrobial activity. Dimick Gray also has research interests in analyzing native Minnesota plants that have been identified by Native American tribes as having medicinal value.

Dimick Gray holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Duke University and BA from Earlham College.
