Biography

Jules Thompson serves as Assistant Provost for Academic Effectiveness

Jules' leadership activities include the assessment of student learning at the university, co-chairing the Assessment Committee, leading accreditation activities in preparation for our next reaffirmation in the 2026-27 academic year and contributing to leadership of Program Review. Jules holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from St. Cloud State University, as well as an MA and PhD in Communication and Culture from Indiana University-Bloomington, with specializations in contemporary rhetorical theory, criticism, and public policy/legal rhetoric. Her work as a rhetorician has focused on the intersections of rhetoric, ideology, and public policy. She completed post-doctorate work at the University of Pittsburgh, where she taught courses on the rhetoric of law/public policy, with a specific focus on family law/policy.
